Another shutout win for Leominster The Leominster seventh graders recorded their third shutout of the season on Saturday, defeating Lunenburg 19 0 in American Youth Football action.Patrick Gallagher started the scoring with a 29 yard TD reception from Brady Martin. Martin and Gallagher connected again on the extra point to make it 7 0. Connor Marchand Jordan then scored on a 3 yard TD run. Gabe Elias then sealed the game with an electrifying 45 yard TD jaunt. The offensive line was great again for the Blue Devils. The defense was led by Elijah Martinez, Will Vargo, Brian Rodriguez, Ethan Paine, Alex Perez, Zach Khallady, Julio Perez, Marchand Jordan, Elias and Gallagher.In other Leominster youth football action Saturday:Fifth gradeKyle Philbin started the scoring with a 20 yard TD and Connor Smith added the extra point. Smith had a 20 yard score and Juan Cora followed it with the extra point. Miguel Torres and Voshon Dixon each had a touchdown.Fourth gradeAnthony Oquendo accounted for four touchdowns as Leominster improved to 4 0. Offensively, Leominster's running backs ran hard and the offensive line controlled the of line scrimmage all game. Leominster's running attack of Reid Richard, Reece Lora, Logan Vezina and Tanner Martin was also solid.Leominster will play a slate of home games on Sunday when it welcomes Gardner Youth Football to Doyle Field.Saturday, Aug. 31Eighth gradeTyngsboro 0Leominster opened its season with a 27 0 victory over visiting Tyngsboro. The offense was led by Isaul Figueroa and Michael Bernard, who combined to score four touchdowns behind the strong line play of Anthony Saladini, Chris Torres, John Doherty, Domonyc Vazquez and Brian Dematos. On defense, the front line of Daniel Morey, Devon Gaughan, Geovonn Perez and Lucas Lashua was able to keep constant pressure on the Tyngsboro offense.Fourth gradeLeominster's running attack and scoring came from four players Liam Connor, Bradley Albert, Anthony Oquendo and Joey Pallotta. the Tyngsboro Tigers. The offense was led by Josh Cormier, Guilhermme Elias and Jake Richards, picking up two fumbles and running one back into the end zone. Nick Thibeault, Anthony Kendall and Davion Thiboeau on the line opened up the field. Xander Leger, Jake Harrington, Willy Hoyle and Gianexis Santiago had an amazing stand on defense.
